Project Mosaic Update!

Above the proscenium where the mural will be placed

The first couple weeks with students were used for planning and designing the art. We went into the auditorium to measure the exact space. The students were able to design three different examples of what they thought the mosaic should include. The final design was a combination of many different ideas from students.

After measuring the space with the students we were surprised to find out that the area was much larger than anticipated. The mural will be approximately 26 feet by 4.5 feet. Because it is so large we have divided the piece into 4x4 sections. The students have spent lots of time cutting and sorting tiles in order to begin designing the different sections.

We are lucky enough to have a great space right outside the room for the project to take shape. The students take turns working with Concetta while others stay in the room and work on their own art projects. If they enjoy the project and behave well, many of them are invited to come back during their lunch recess to work on the project.  Ms. Rogers
