Project Mosaic Installment!

Project Mosaic was a lasting art project that was in part funded by Project Encore and Lowes. The money was raised by The Greater Des Moines Leadership institute to refinish the auditorium of Amos Hiatt last year. We invited Resident Concetta Morales to create a lasting piece with the students. Over 200 students were able to work on the project by cutting, sorting, grouting, and wiping tiles.

The day has finally come for the Mosaic to be installed in the building. After much debate about hanging the art in the auditorium we have decided to hang it above the brand new office. It will receive much more attention there. Thank you to all of the students and staff that have helped make this possible. Especially our artist in residence, Concetta Morales.

The students spent over 6 months cutting, sorting, and gluing tiles to create this 26 foot by 6 foot masterpiece.
